Describe your ultimate sandwich.

My husband makes the best ones! They are on fresh cheese buns with lots of deli meat, cheese, onion slices, pickles and just the right amount of mayo and mustard. I LOVE sandwiches. If I could eat subway everyday, I would. I also love veggie wraps -do those count? I am going to count them. It is kind of funny because as a kid when I would open my lunch kit I would roll my eyes when I saw a sandwich. I was always hoping for something more exciting but now I am the opposite. I think it is the bread more than anything else. There is nothing better  than a delicious bun – or slides of sourdough or marble rye. Mmmm French bread, yum! The bread really makes a sandwich.

What is a personality trait you admire in other people?

Discipline or motivation is definitely a personality trait that I admire in other people. They get stuff done, achieve great success and seem to be able to have it all. They seem to have it all in their personal and professional lives. To be honest I would love to have a lot more discipline and motivation in the fitness and nutrition area of my life; it’s always been a struggle for me. Some disciplined or motivated people in that regard that I have recently started to follow are Kayla Itsines, Rachel Dillon, Amanda Kloots and her sister Anna. These ladies are hustling in all the best ways possible and they love to support other women which sadly isn’t always the case even today which is shocking. Obviously it’s a lot of work to become and stay motivated or disciplined. It’s not something easy or magical which is one thing I really like about the previously mentioned ladies is they do acknowledge the work that it takes and they do validate when people are struggling. They also share their struggles they don’t make it seem like it’s all rosy which is very relatable.

August Journal #3

Would you rather spend the day at an art museum, science museum, or history museum?

I absolutely love museums. In fact, I’m always the person dragging people to them. I even build entire holidays and vacations around them. I beg my husband to take me so I can, “nerd out.” I have even been to some incredible museums around the world. Museums in England, Scotland, Wales, Alaska, California, Washington, British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Mexico, the Dominican Republic, Italy and France. If I had to rank them number one would be an art gallery, number two a history museum and in third place a science museum. But ultimately it’s really a three-way tie for first place. I was recently in Houston, Texas but I was unable to go to any, hopefully next time, because I already have ones picked out that I want to go to.

Describe your favourite comic strip or cartoon!

My favourite cartoon of all time is the 1966 version of How the Grinch Stole Christmas. I watch it every year at Christmas, multiple times without fail. I have watched it for as long as I can remember. There is just something about Boris Karloff’s voice. I was a hardcore Dr. Seuss fan growing up. The Who’s that occupy Whoville are adorable. I can hear “You’re a Mean one, Mr Grinch” in my head as I write this. There is just something about an underdog or a societal reject getting his happy ending all thanks to Little Cindy Lou Who. His heart grows, he is accepted, he rights his wrongs and he gets to celebrate Christmas with his family and Max the dog. I prefer this version to all the other versions of the Grinch that are out there.
