Lovely Lemonade

There is nothing sweeter than sitting on the deck in the summertime, sipping on some lovely lemonade. In addition to the sweet yet tart traditional LEMON flavour, I absolutely love: watermelon and blueberry. I know these may seem like odd flavour choices, but trust me, they are AWESOME.

My go-to recipe for traditional lemonade comes from Bon Appétit. For me, BA’s “Best Lemonade” serves as a base for the other drink concoctions I am going to present to you. These drinks can be served both alcoholic and virgin. Sometimes when I feel fancy or I am entertaining I like to add champagne for a riff on a mimosa!

Watermelon Lemonade

Ingredients…
1 pitcher of BA’s Best Lemonade
2 cups cubed watermelon
Ice

Directions…
1. Prepare lemonade as per Bon Appétit recipe
2. In a blender, puree the watermelon until it is smooth.
3. Strain through a fine sieve; to get rid of seeds
4. To prevent this delicious drink from becoming too watery, it is best to serve it right away; put ice into individual glasses, add 3-4 tablespoons of puree to each then fill the glass with your lemonade; stir & enjoy!

Blueberry Lemonade

Ingredients…
1 pitcher of BA’s Best Lemonade
2 cups fresh blueberries
2 tablespoons honey
1/2 cup water
Ice

Directions…
1. Prepare lemonade as per Bon Appétit recipe
2. In a blender, puree & mix blueberries, honey & water
3. Strain through a fine sieve; to get rid of any ‘lumps’
4. Add puree to your pitcher of lemonade, serve with ice.
*If you have left over blueberries you can add them to your glasses. EVEN BETTER: a neat touch is to use “blueberry ice cubes’ ahead of time; with whole blueberries!
*This recipe also tastes amazing if you muddle a little mint in each glass before adding the ice & lemonade
