September 2023 Accountability Post

I blinked and September was over; its time to reflect on the three goals I set for myself. I am glad I set simple goals, otherwise I don’t think I would have been successful. I hope you all had a much calmer month than I did.

  1. Take the night off and do something fun with a friend.
–I went to see The Importance of Being Earnest and it was such a fun night! I highly recommend the play!
  2. Pack a lunch everyday.
–I filled my Bento box each night before school with healthy snacks to keep me going throughout the day!
  3. Walk everyday.
–I minimized how much I sat during the day; the reminder on my FitBit definitely came in handy. I walked everyday at lunch; but it also helps that I HAD to since I asked for extra supervision.

What is the worst emotion a human being can feel?

Wow this is really a tough one! What comes to mind are shame, worthlessness, loneliness. But if I had to pick one perhaps HATRED would be the worst emotion a human being can feel.  When a person feels hatred they can become blinded by it and do unspeakable and evil things. Hatred destroys people both aggressor and victim. Our world would be a much better place if people didn’t hate. Hatred can be the result of other terrible emotions like I previously mentioned. Hatred can also be the result of misinformation and the lack of critical thinking skills. Hatred is such a dangerous emotion. It is an all consuming emotion. Our species needs help.

Ladies Night Out, Outfit!

One of my goals was to “take the night off and do something fun with a friend” because September is always so overwhelming. A few friends and I are going to the theater (yes, again) to see “The Importance of Being Earnest.” That calls for a new outfit, that takes some Victorian era inspiration!

Dress: Puff Sleeve Ruffle Neck Mini Dress (Gap) in rusty brown
Shoes: Tahira Pump (Nordstrom) in dark ivory
Purse: Muddal Faux Leather Bucket Bag (Nordstrom) in bone
Jewellery: 3 Piece Pearl Necklace Set (The Bay)

Describe a way a friend supported you when you needed it.

One friend in particular – who I met at work – supports me all the time. She is a remarkable human being. She lets me vent. She keeps my secrets when I ask her to. She gives fantastic advice. She makes me food. She is the most thoughtful person. She gives you little gifts when you feel down which perks you right up. She also gives thoughtful gifts to celebrate successes. She is there for me; for all her friends. She suggests little outings to get a break from whatever is bothering you which helps you re-center and have some laughs. She is the ultimate cheerleader!

It’s ‘Sweater (dress) Weather’

Many people love fall because of ‘pumpkin spice EVERYTHING,’ I, on the other hand love fall because of the SWEATERS! Last year, I featured my favourite sweaters but this year I am loving the sweater dress trend (which I realize I am late to the party with).

Lene Cable Knit Turtlerneck Sweater Dress (Cupshe)

Anne Two-Tone Turtleneck Sweater Dress (Cupshe)

What is your favourite CD or album?

CDs? What are those? Am I right? I don’t have a favourite CD or album, although back in my “youth” I had  A LOT of CDs. My mom and I ordered from a company -maybe Columbia House – I am not sure the name but basically you’d get a bunch of CDs every month for a flat rate. I even had a 6 disc CD player both at home and in my first car. I like all sorts of music so my “faves” change all the time. This month it is Miley Cyrus’ latest album, next month who knows. For the longest time, probably ages 11-16 I was obsessed with the Backstreet Boys; so my favourite albums were always theirs. With Spotify I am embracing a lot of different artists. Basically if I find something I like I listen to it over and over again, like I did with the soundtrack for SIX in the summer. I often listen to songs or albums way longer than they are popular.
